The Finishing Touch Soccer and the newly Sanctioned USYF Club: One Futsal, have put together another Summer School Program for 2025. This is an excellent opportunity for soccer enthusiasts to enhance their skills and overall soccer knowledge. Let's break down the key components of the program:
Monday - Wednesday Skills, Finishing, Functional Training, Classroom sessions, and strength and speed with Coach Josh Holmes 4:00pm-8:00pm, Thursday 3v3 summer competition and Soccer Tennis 4:00pm-8pm
- Instructor's Credentials: JR Roth is a certified coach with over 20 years of experience in training players, coaching teams, and directing soccer camps. He holds certifications from USSF (United States Soccer Federation), NSCAA (National Soccer Coaches Association of America), USYF ( United States Youth Futsal), and he is a high school guidance counselor and NCAA Coordinator for his college bound athletes at Cardinal Newman School which adds credibility to the program.
- Holistic Approach: The program offers a holistic approach to player development, covering various aspects of the game and player well-being. This includes improving soccer IQ, mobility, strength, fostering healthy habits, fitness, and enhancing soccer skills.
- Diverse Activities: Participants can look forward to a diverse range of activities. These activities include fun workouts, field sessions, futsal (a variant of soccer played on a smaller field), soccer tennis (a skill-building game), and small-sided games. This variety keeps the program engaging and helps players develop different aspects of their game.
- Classroom Instruction: The inclusion of classroom instruction is an essential element. It allows players to learn not only on the field but also through tactical awareness sessions and video analysis. This can be a valuable tool for players looking to improve their understanding of the game's strategic and tactical aspects.
- Partnership: The program is strengthened by its partnership with Josh Holmes Fitness and Nutrition, suggesting a focus on player fitness and overall health. This partnership can offer valuable insights into maintaining physical well-being and nutrition for optimal performance. In the past the program was also lucky to partner with college players from the USC Gamecocks, such as Taylor Jacobson, Claire Griffiths, Corinna Zullo, Anna Young, and Cat Barry.
- Futsal: Futsal is known for enhancing ball control and quick decision-making, which can be beneficial for soccer players. We utilize futsal training almost daily in our program to ramp up their touches and close control.
Overall, JR Roth's Summer School Program appears to offer a well-rounded experience for soccer players, combining fitness, skills, tactical awareness, and fun activities to create a comprehensive learning environment.
